Jurassic Blog?
There's tonic in the air!
Actually, it's called air conditioning. This is an ad for air conditioning.
Supposedly it made a better environment in which to heal.
I mean, like, who wants to sweat when you have measles?
Take a good look at the photo.
Doctor, nurse, three young male patients.
This child obviously need assistance with ambulating.
The two kids in bed don't even look sick.
Is this some wierd hospital stuck between "The Twilight Zone" and "Groundhog Day"?
They've all aged at least 50 years (including the nurse and doctor).
They've never left the hospital room!
The two guys in bed still don't look sick.
The kid still needs assistance ambulating.
The only activity that seems to have occurred during the previous half century is that the doctor has decided to stand up.
Now that's progress.
I do believe they still think Franklin Delano Roosevelt is President.
Someone should break the news to them.....
So you see, air conditioning didn't do a thing for these people.
Another case of false advertising.

On the subject of air conditioning....It is a known fact that there are more cases of asthma and environmental/seasonal allergies today than there were ~30 years ago when not all homes were air conditioned. Maybe air conditioners and carpets has something to do with it, who knows. It is fact, though, that more Americans kids are spending their times indoors today than a few generations ago. Drive around your neighborhood, how many kids do you see playing outside, romping around in the grass, or riding their bicycles? I strongly believe that this "indoor culture" has a lot to do with the surge in asthma and allergies and common illnesses. I see kids in my practice every day and parents often asks me why their kids are sick year round with runny nose, sniffles and cough which leads to frequent otitis media. They take them to various clinics and ER's and end up with a bunch of prescriptions meds ranging from antihistamine, decongestestants, cough suppresants, metered dose inhalers, steroids, to antibiotics. I tell the parents to open up all their windows when the weather is tolerable and let the kids go outside more often to play. From the feedbacks of parents, it seems to work. (I guess playing in filth builds up immunity. Hehehe.) Although many parents did expressed concerns that they can't let their kids go outside and terrorize the neighborhood because the neighborhoods today aren't so safe any more like it was 30-40+ years ago when they were growing up. With all of these sexual predators lurking around, who can blame them?
You say you'll have a new look but 'same old writing' - I say hurrah! We like the writing just fine!
Congrats-- I'm good-naturedly jealous!
Just as long as you keep up the "same old writing"!
Hh
P.S. Check out Nurse Pez at my blog!
Sometimes the vintage pics make me realize how out of touch we were back then to alot of things.
I'm anxious to see the dinosaurs!
And, were it not for AC, everybody here in Florida would need a hospital. Thank God for Dr. John Gorey who invented air conditioning.
that is awesome! - the thing about the doctor standing up. its a smart joke
